As a technology provider, we are also repeatedly confronted with this question, which is why we would like to try to shed some light on it. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Ticketing<\/strong> and <strong>guest management<\/strong> may be linked, but they relate to <strong>different aspects<\/strong> within an event or function. The difference between ticketing and guest registration lies in the <strong>way<\/strong> attendees are managed at an event and what information is collected in the process. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ticketing<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In ticketing, tickets are usually booked &#8211; or purchased, which involves <strong>payment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ticket serves as <strong>proof<\/strong> of access to the event and grants certain rights (e.g. access to certain areas, participation in workshops).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information about ticket buyers is not collected in great detail. Only the <strong>basic data<\/strong> required for booking or purchasing the tickets.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One person can book <strong>several tickets<\/strong> without specifying the other ticket holders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ticketing is highly <strong>automated<\/strong> and sales are as simple as possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Form and <strong>design<\/strong> of the tickets is <strong>specified<\/strong> by the ticketing system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The aim of ticketing is to sell <strong>as many<\/strong> tickets <strong>as possible<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The organizer does not necessarily get access to the bookers from the ticketing provider.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guest registration<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Guest registration is always carried out using <strong>personal data<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The type and amount of information requested can vary greatly. Sometimes the name and e-mail are sufficient, other times extensive information must be provided. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration processes can sometimes have <strong>complex workflows<\/strong> and involve additional resources. <em>More on this in the article &#8220;Guest management&#8221;<\/em> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They register themselves and, if necessary, other team or group members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As with ticketing, a payment process and a ticket can be generated at the end of the process. This is particularly useful if <strong>check-in or accreditation<\/strong> is to take place on site. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Confirmation is mandatory<\/strong>, as important booking confirmations are required depending on the type of event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The objectives of guest registration are less purely quantitative and more <strong>qualitative<\/strong>. This does not mean that quantity does not play a role &#8211; just not to the same extent as in ticketing. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guest registration is often the start of a longer guest journey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tickets can vary in shape, type and design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing guests is important for the planner as he is in contact with them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ticketing alone or in combination with guest registration and management<\/h2>\n\n<p>colada offers <strong>complete freedom<\/strong> of use and processes. Whether ticketing in the conventional sense or in combination with guest registration is up to the user from project to project.
