How emails can be sent based on certain rules – a simple explanation
In addition to basic email triggers such as registration completed, updated, declined or canceled, in conjunction with booking-driven conditions and the personalization of emails using placeholders, there are cases where all this is not enough.
In this case, conditional content offers further customization and automation options by means of a control mechanism.
These rules help to display certain content in an email only if a certain condition is met. This means that different people can see different content – depending on which group they belong to.
How does it work?
- Start rule:
Start with#if(Bedingung == "Wert").- The condition is a specific characteristic of the person (e.g. their group).
- The value is a specific group (e.g. “Standard”).
- Insert the content that should only be visible to this group.
- End rule with
#end.
Simple example
If a person belongs to the “Standard” group, they will see the following text:
#if($guest.group == "Standard")
Hallo, willkommen zur Veranstaltung!
#end
All other groups do not see this text.
Addressing several groups
You can also display different content for different groups:
#if($guest.group == "Standard")
Willkommen, Standard-Teilnehmer!
#end
#if($guest.group == "ohne Hotel")
Willkommen, Teilnehmer ohne Hotel!
#end
Each group only sees the content intended for them.
Show alternative content
If only one group should receive different content and everyone else should see something in common, use #else:

Hier sind Infos für alle anderen Teilnehmer.
#end
This means:
- If someone belongs to the “without hotel” group, they will see Content A.
- All others see Content B.
Important notes
- Upper and lower case must be correct.
- Special characters such as ä, ö, ü or ß should not be used.
